Savage Services, Tesoro Corp.’s partner in the Vancouver Energy project, received a 2015 Better Workplace Award from the Association of Washington Businesses (AWB) on Jan. 27.

According to AWB, the annual Better Workplace Award program “highlights private-sector Washington employers that raise the standard for excellence for helping workers stay safe, excel at their current jobs and prepare for advancement through training and education.”

Savage was one of four businesses recognized by AWB this week in Olympia. The company, which has more than 70 employees in Washington state, received an award for its commitment to workplace safety.

“Nothing trumps safety at Savage,” said Savage Vice President and Northwest Region General Manager Jared Larrabee in a news release. “And every person in the company has the responsibility and accountability to make sure we have a safe community and workplace, and to perform his or her job safely every time.”

Savage manages logistics at Tesoro’s oil refinery in Anacortes, Washington. Tesoro Executive Vice President of Operations Keith Casey said of their operation, “The men and women there at Savage have unloaded over 500 unit trains – 34 million barrels of crude oil – with zero incidents and zero impact to the environment. We’re really proud to have a partner like Savage as we continue to work together to safely and responsibly provide fuel for the nation.”

Congratulations to Savage Services!
