VANCOUVER, Wash. – Eric LaBrant was sworn in as a Port of Vancouver USA commissioner at 4:37 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28.

Mr. LaBrant was sworn in by Port of Vancouver Commissioner Brian Wolfe, who is a notary public, during a short reception at the port’s Terminal One on the downtown Vancouver waterfront.

“I look forward to working with Eric,” said Commissioner Wolfe. “I believe him to be open and willing to become knowledgeable about the port as a whole.”

Mr. LaBrant was elected in 2015 to represent the port’s District 2. He is a graduate of Fort Vancouver High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Western Governors University in 2015.

Mr. LaBrant is the president of the Fruit Valley Neighborhood Association. He has volunteered with the Vancouver Lake Watershed Partnership and mentors student teams with the Washington State University Vancouver Business Growth Mentor and Analysis Program.

Mr. LaBrant strongly supports infrastructure investments and sustainable policies that promote our community’s competitive advantages, including livability, education and environmental stewardship.

A native of the Vancouver/Portland area, Mr. LaBrant enjoys hiking with his two children in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Columbia Gorge, and rowing on Vancouver Lake.

Mr. LaBrant’s first day of work is Jan. 4, 2016. His term expires Dec. 31, 2021.

About the Board of Commissioners
The Port of Vancouver USA district is divided into three commission districts, each with an elected official. Port commissioners are elected to six-year terms and are responsible for setting policy for the port as a public agency.

Commissioner Brian Wolfe, who represents District 1, was elected to the board in 2005 and reelected in 2011. His term expires Dec. 31, 2017.

Commissioner Jerry Oliver, who represents District 3, was elected to the board in 2007 and reelected in 2013. His term expires Dec. 31, 2019.
