The port’s waterfront property at Terminal 1

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Join the Port of Vancouver USA and its consultant, NBBJ, for a waterfront workshop on Tuesday, May 26.

The board will meet at its regularly scheduled time, 9:30 a.m., to attend to action items and routine port business. The board meeting will recess at noon for a public workshop on the port’s waterfront project.

What:     Commission workshop for the Port of Vancouver’s waterfront project
Where:  Port administrative office, 3103 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver
When:   Noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26

During the workshop, the port and NBBJ will discuss the planning process and initial concepts for the port’s waterfront property, and take public testimony. The workshop will be broadcast live on www.cvtv.org.

The port is reinventing its birthplace on the Columbia River. The site, known as Terminal 1, is where the port established its first facilities in 1925. Today it’s home to the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, The Quay Restaurant, a small office building, public amphitheater and public docks.

NBBJ will use current city plans, market data, and discussions with key stakeholders and citizens to create an overarching master plan for the port’s property. Initial plans for redevelopment could include a mixed-use building, new hotel and public attractions.

Future public meetings will be held on specific alternatives and ultimate development of the master plan, which is scheduled for completion late this year.
