PORT OF VANCOUVER, USA WELCOMES
M/V STAR JAVA ON HER MAIDEN VOYAGE

- The M/V Star Java is the third vessel in a series of three delivered
from Tamano, Japan, in the period up to 2008.
December 20, 2006 -- Port of Vancouver, USA
welcomed the M/V Star Java, captained by Edilberto F. Cruz from
the Philippines, on her maiden voyage to Vancouver, Washington.
The M/V Star Java is owned by Grieg Shipping of Bergen, Norway;
operated by Star Shipping, and represented locally by General Steamship
Corporation of Portland, Oregon.
Capt. Cruz and the 22-member crew were welcomed to Vancouver by
Lucky Hewavitharana, from Star Shipping; Bryan Smith, Operations
Vessel Manager for General Steamship; Paul DeBolt, Vessel Operations
Manager for Marine Terminals Corp.; Ron Gill, Operations Manager
for Jones Stevedoring, and Alastair Smith, Senior Director of Marketing
and Operations, and Mike Schiller, Operations Manager, both from
the Port of Vancouver.
The M/V Star Java is the third vessel in a series of three to be
delivered from Tamano, Japan, in the period up to 2008.
A general cargo vessel, the M/V Star Java is 198 meters in length
and has a total 44,837 deadweight tons, with 11 holds/hatches and
two Mitsui Paceco traveling 68 long-ton gantry cranes. The vessel
is compliant with environmental IMO Requirements meeting low emissions
engine compliance.
The M/V Star Java discharged cargo from the Far East at Port of
Vancouver’s Terminal 3, stevedored by Marine Terminals Corporation
and Jones Stevedoring. After leaving the Port of Vancouver, the
vessel will sail to Los Angeles and San Francisco before proceeding
to its final destination, New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.
