PORT OF VANCOUVER WELCOMES GLORIOUS SUNRISE ON MAIDEN VOYAGE
September 7, 2007 -- VANCOUVER,
Wash.-The Port of Vancouver USA today welcomed the Glorious Sunrise, commanded by Captain Alberto P. Lomongo of the Philippines, on her maiden voyage to Vancouver, Wash. The Glorious Sunrise is owned by Ambitious Lines S.A. of Japan and operated by Exeno Yamamizu. The Glorious Sunrise is represented locally by Transmarine Navigation Corp.
Lomongo, who has been sailing for 20 years and the 20-member crew were welcomed to Vancouver by Jim Horne, vessel agent for Transmarine Navigation Corp.; Mark Allen, operations superintendent for Jones Stevedoring; Mike Schiller, operations manager from the port, and Eric Rogers, superintendent for United Harvest, LLC.
The Glorious Sunrise was built in Imabari, Japan and launched August 21, 2007. It is 169.3 meters in length, is 28,350 deadweight tons and has five holds and hatches. The crew for the vessel’s first visit to the Port of Vancouver USA, was from the Philippines.
The vessel loaded approximately 5,250 metric tons of spring wheat at the Port of Vancouver’s Terminal 2 after taking on 19,000 metric tons of barley in Portland, Ore.
After leaving the Port of Vancouver USA, the vessel sailed to Japan to its final destination, Kashima, Japan.
