Vancouver Port Commissionen to consider seven action items

January 18, 2008 -- VANCOUVER, Wash.-When the Vancouver Port Commission meets in its regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 22, seven action items will be considered.

Resolutions

Commissioners Brian Wolfe, Nancy Baker and Jerry Oliver will consider the adoption of a resolution honoring Ed Barnes for his service to labor and transportation in the state of Washington and throughout the metropolitan area, as he retires from the Washington State Transportation Commission.

In another resolution, Commissioners will consider approving a fifth amendment to the Washington Ports Agreement, which is an intergovernmental agreement between the ports of Vancouver, Kalama, Longview and the Oregon ports of Portland and St. Helens for the Columbia River Channel Deepening Project. The Commission will be asked to approve and authorize execution of an amendment and restatement of the Washington Ports Agreement.

The Commission will also consider authorizing the executive director to represent its position on the Columbia River Crossing (CRC). Executive Director Larry Paulson represents the Port of Vancouver on the CRC Task Force, and will soon be asked to cast a vote on that panel in the decision-making process for the crossing project to move as deemed appropriate by the Task Force.

Leases

In terms of leases, the port Commissioners will consider a ground lease with Kinder Morgan Bulk Terminals, Inc., for approximately 11,400 square feet to build an office facility. A sub lease between Kinder Morgan and the port will also be considered by the Commission. That sub lease would allow Kinder Morgan to help locate SGS North America in office space at the port.

The Commission will consider whether to approve an amendment to a lease agreement between the port and Columbia Waterfront LLC.

Surplus of Port Equipment

Port staff will also ask Commissioners to consider authorizing the surplus of one bulldozer due to limited recent use of the bulldozer and no anticipated use in the near future.

The public session of the Commission meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., in the Commission Room at port headquarters on Lower River Road in Vancouver. The meeting will be televised live on CVTV, and will be streamed live on www.cvtv.org.
