For Immediate Release
CLARK COUNTY PORT COMMISSIONS SET JOINT MEETING
January 4, 2008 -- VANCOUVER,
Wash.-The commissions of the ports of Vancouver, Ridgefield and Camas-Washougal will discuss issues facing the three organizations in a joint meeting of the three commissions, Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Ridgefield Community Center [210 Main Street, in Ridgefield].
The meeting – hosted by the Port of Ridgefield – is open to the public, but no action will be taken by any of the commissions.
Agenda items include discussion of each port’s priority projects, discussion of transportation priorities in the region – including the Columbia River Crossing, port representation with RTC, and freight mobility. There will also be discussion and updates of the three ports’ common interest in the county’s industrial land supply.
It is the third joint meeting of the port commissions, and is a valuable tool for communication between the three ports that are fully-based in Clark County [Port of Woodland has a small portion of its district in Clark County]. The first was at the Port of Vancouver in 2006, and the second was September 11, 2007, at the offices of the Port of Camas-Washougal
“Keeping the lines of communication open between the three port commissions is always important, and we’ve recently begun a series of meetings to do exactly that,” said Port of Vancouver Commissioner Brian Wolfe. “Each of the ports has challenges that are unique to them, but we also have similar experience, goals and expectations that we can work on together. That’s largely what these meetings are designed for.”
Wolfe added that two of the three ports have a new commissioner, so this meeting will be an opportunity to meet new colleagues and get to know one another.
