For Immediate Release
Port Commissioners to host a series of open houses
March 19, 2008 -- Members of the Port of Vancouver Board of Commissioners are hosting open houses over the next week, giving residents of the Vancouver Port District three opportunities to learn more about port projects and endeavor.
The first Commission Open House is set for Saturday, March 22 from 12:30-2:30 p.m., at Marshall Community Center hosted by Commissioner Jerry Oliver representing district three.
On Tuesday, March 25, district one Commissioner Brian Wolfe will host another Commission Open House from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Firstenburg Community Center.
Nancy Baker, the commissioner from district two, will host her open house on Thursday, March 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the Commons at Columbia River High School.
The open houses are intended to provide an opportunity for residents to talk with port commissioners about port policy and projects, to get detailed information and answers to their questions about port development plans and environmental efforts from staff members, and provide input about port development and activities.
Numerous displays and photographs will be available, including information about the port’s projects. The port has also put together a number of games and activities for children, so the open houses are family events.
A detailed map of the commissioner districts within the Vancouver Port District can be found on the Port of Vancouver’s website at www.portvanusa.com/about/pdfs/2008_DistrictMap.pdf.
