/ Port Truck Study

September 27, 2011

The Port of Vancouver and the University of Washington Civil Engineering Department conducted a Port Truck Study (executive summary) to gain a better understanding of truck distribution of port tenants and marine customers on freight routes used to access the port and I-5. Some of the report highlights are that Mill Plain remains the most highly used truck route to and from the port, port-generated trucks tend to switch from Mill Plain to 4th Plain as the day continues, Fourth Plain is a significant freight route for both port and general trucks, 39th St. is not a primary route for port trucks and all trucks have high levels of activity in the morning and lower levels in the late afternoon.
