GatewayOverpass_06212013_4810-webIt’s no secret that the Port of Vancouver USA is committed to the safe transport of all commodities. Port CEO Todd Coleman knows crude oil is already moving through the Columbia River system—and it’s not going to stop.

In recent letters to U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, Coleman thanks the elected officials for their commitment to improve freight rail transportation in our region and for their focus on strengthening regulations in the transport of oil.

“We must find ways to make the transport of crude oil safer; and swift and decisive action by our federal government is imperative,” said Coleman.

This message is one that needs repeating again and again—not just from the port, but from our local community, stakeholders and everyone committed to finding a solution.
