katyb-2015-waterfront_3206The rain came down in sheets and the wind blew hard, but port staff still had a great time sharing the newly revealed design concepts for our Terminal One redevelopment project at our waterfront open house on Dec. 8.

More than 120 members of the community braved the weather to talk with port staff about Terminal One’s past, present and future. Attendees also enjoyed treats from the port, Clark College’s Culinary Arts program and Torque Coffee, and enjoyed warm meals from local food trucks Esoteric BBQ, Ingrid’s Good Street Food and Steakburger On the Go.

The port is redeveloping Terminal One, its birthplace on the Columbia River. The project is currently in the master planning process, but could host such amenities as a hotel, retail and commercial space, and public areas able to support nonprofit and recreational activities.

We also recently welcomed AbSci LLC as the first new tenant at the new Columbia River Life Sciences Technology Building at the west end of Terminal One. The growing company will soon occupy a portion of the former Red Lion hotel building. We’ll begin construction soon to renovate the space into the first dedicated life sciences technology lab space in Southwest Washington, allowing AbSci the flexibility to expand and greatly increasing the region’s ability to attract more biotechnology companies.

We’ve made incredible progress on our Terminal One redevelopment project, and we are excited about what the future brings for this historic place on downtown Vancouver’s waterfront. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for the latest Port of Vancouver news and events.
