June18WorkshopIt was standing room only on June 18 as Port of Vancouver USA commissioners and staff, consultants, and members of the community came together for a workshop about the vision for the port’s waterfront redevelopment project.

The workshop, led by the port’s Master Planning consultant, NBBJ, featured an architectural exercise called “massing,” which gave attendees a visual representation of what this unique property could look like when built out. From mixed-use buildings and commercial offices to plazas and promenades, attendees were shown a variety of design concepts for the port’s 13 acres of waterfront property. Some concepts that stood out to commissioners included rooftop terraces to enhance greenspace, a plaza design that could improve access to and from Vancouver’s city center, and a design that could help small retailers flourish.

NBBJ will take comments provided by port commissioners and workshop attendees and develop three preferred alternatives. These alternatives will be presented to the commission at the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 14, and shared with the public at an open house on Wednesday, July 15.

Join us at the open house to learn more, view preferred alternatives and speak with staff and consultants about the project!
