M/T Silver Hague calls the Port of Vancouver USA on her maiden voyage

VANCOUVER, Wash.—The Port of Vancouver USA welcomed the M/T Silver Hague, commanded by Capt. Sergey Degtyaryov of Russia, on her maiden voyage Monday, Feb. 2.

Capt. Degtyaryov and his 21-member crew were welcomed to Vancouver by Atsuo Utsumi, Inchcape Shipping Services Port Manager; Aaron Flett, NuStar Energy Terminal Manager; Greg Murphy, NuStar Energy Supervisor; Steve Mickelson, Port of Vancouver USA Sales Director; and Deb Taylor, Port of Vancouver USA Inside Sales Representative.

The Silver Hague is a double-hulled chemical tanker built in Korea and launched on Jan. 2, 2015. She is owned by Silver No. 16 of Panama and operated by Columbia Shipmanagement of Germany.

The vessel is 600 feet long and has a deadweight capacity of 49,746 metric tons.

The Silver Hague arrived at the Port of Vancouver USA from Mailiao, Taiwan. Once berthed at the port, her crew discharged approximately 11,484 liquid metric tons of sodium hydroxide.

More commonly known as lye, sodium hydroxide is used in many industries, including as a base in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, soaps and detergents.

After discharging sodium hydroxide at the port, the Silver Hague will depart for Wilmington, California. Wilmington is her final destination on her maiden voyage.
